How 2Choose Digital Camera?

Many people get confused about what to consider, when they are buying new digital Camera. There is a list of factors and features below that is worthwhile to consider, while you are spending amount of money in a new camera.


First let's consider the factors of buying new digital camera.

  • Use - First you should decide that what you will be using your new camera for. Is it for personal use or Is it for professional use?
  • Price - Other factor to consider is Price. How much money you want to spend on your new electronic.

Now let's look at the features of the camera.

  • Resolution - In a digital camera, resolution is always measured in megapixels. Megapixels determines the quality of the photo. A more the migapixels, better the quality of your pictures.Today megapixels is no big deals as it was two years ago. A $125 camera, has minimum of 6 to 8 megapixels.
  • Zoom - First there are two types of zoom available in today's digital camera, which are optical zoom and digital zoom. Optical zoom is the movement of the camera's lens that brings the subject closer to you, and digital zoom is the electronic cropping of the images to enlarge the picture digitally in camera. More the optical zoom is, your picture will have greater quality.
  • Flash - Check for the flash range and special feature such as red-eye reduction as well as external flash unit for professional use.
  • Batteries - Couple of years ago, most of the camera used to have standard AA batteries, but today most of the camera has special lithium ion batteries. Both type of batteries has its own advantages and disadvantages.
  • Memory - Check if the new camera has any internal memory. When you don't have memory card with you, It will let you take some pictures, which camera will store in its internal memory.
  • Other Compatibilities - Transferring photos from camera to your PC, sending directly to your printer, microphone, movie mode etc....

So Now you know what to look for when you are purchasing a brand new camera.
